Back to running in the cold but.....

It was amazing! Have been in Spain for five weeks running three times a week in fairly warm conditions (24 degrees at 8 o clock am) and found it quite difficult to fight off the Gremlins (language problem??) and although I managed 5k each time, a lot of it was walk/run and came home feeling a bit deflated and felt I had lost my ability to run 5k non-stop. My lovely partner (who is an Iron Man so knows about these things 😜) convinced me I should do the local Parkrun today so I braved the freezing temperatures and- I did it!! Cut my PB down by 3 minutes too - nobody was more surprised than me, but feel so much better having done it. Obviously more suited to running in the cold, which is a shame as I have just bought a holiday home in Spain!

You are looking very professional there! I would much rather run in the cold than heat. Hopefully you've ditched your gremlins somewhere over the Bay of Biscay!

Thank you - yes hopefully they are swimming with the sharks 😁

Well done on the Park Run and beating your PB! Loving the matching running gear btw! Looking very trim too!

Thank you - wasn't actually planned as matching running gear - just dug out the warmest I could find!!

I understand exactly where you are, I live in France and UK half and half, France in Summer, UK in winter. It's pretty hot where I am in France too, and I almost never do non stop running there, I run from patch of shade to patch of shade! I'm back in UK now, and looking forward to getting back to non stop runs. It takes a little while is all! I enjoy my double running life, in a sort of masochistic way! And yes, it's a bit chilly here innit? I've never known such a contrast, there's usually a much milder period to ease you in before winter starts. C'est la vie! Congrats on your new home xxx

Yes just come back from an early morning 5k run in 4degrees and a freezing wind, had a headache from the cold air after 5 minutes - BUT did one of my best times ever - must be something to do with the desire to get home to the central heating 😜 Another week in Spain next week to take over our new house so will no doubt be moaning about the heat then! But hey - aren't we blessed to have such options 👍
