Well more bloods given today this morning for tumour markers. Will have to wait for results. Then visit to the VISS Clinic this afternoon met with nurse and consultant. Loads of questions, measured weighed and now referred for CT Scan and follow up appointment in three weeks. The VISS clinic is a trial clinic of 12 months of duration to speed up treatment where possible full name Vague and Indeterminate Signs and Symptoms Clinic deals with medicine, cancer and emergency care clinical group. They have said all tests I have had are clear. Waiting for this mornings ones. X-ray is clear. I am it appears very healthy except for the excessive weight loss so will wait for ct scan. Will keep you informed.

Stupid question maybe but could you be losing the weight due to running or is that not the case

Papillon17 profile image
Papillon17Graduate in reply to Buddy34

It is entirely possible that’s the case however having looked at the posts on here about weightloss when doing C25K it is a minimal amount you lose not the amount I have especially as I did not have that to lose in the first place.

I've not heard of a viss clinic, but it sounds like exactly the right place for you right now. They also seem to be pretty efficient at running your tests. Stay with it, keep posting 💐

Thanks grumpyoldgirl my docs had done all the tests they try to fill in gaps if tests don’t reveal anything then step up with scans etc

Hope you get an answer soon, not knowing what's going on must be very hard, but hopefully, it will be something easily fixable :)

Thanks 2718281 I hope so it may not need fixing I might just need to eat more than I already do.

Oh argh, think I missed the initial post about this. 😟 All that uncertainty sounds unsettling, and hope it gets resolved soon & happily. 🤔 Meanwhile your excellent HM idea sounds great. Really well done for that, and I love the timing. You’ve done ever so well with this running lark! 🎉👏🏼🎉

Thanks Granspeed did seem to fall at the right time, and I guess the marathon was not to be in order that I could do this one. There maybe nothing wrong but it’s better to be safe in case there is.

Oh too true! Once I start to worry even a bit, I have to know, and I guess most of us are the same. Fingers crossed for you. 👍

Thank Pinkpig20 I expect it will be at least three weeks before I find out as that’s the next appointment with the consultants although expecting CTScan pretty quickly.

Hoping you find what is causing your weight loss quickly. Good luck xx

Look after yourself. Sounds like you have landed in a great place for getting to the bottom of things. I don’t go with normal rules when it comes to diagnostics 😂. It took them ages to find out I was hyperthyroid as I wasn't losing weight with it like most people . I hope they get to the bottom of it really soon. Rfc xxx

🤞🏻 for you. In fact it sounds very similar to what I went through earlier this year. Started running April last year but at the end of January I realised it wasn’t my jeans that were stretching. Went to the gp who immediately ordered a blood test which I got done that day. Got s phone call from the gp at 8 the next morning 😱. I had a shadow on my lung and a raised cancer marker in my blood. To cut a long (for me) but in fact very efficient and relatively short time I’d had CT scans and even a PET scan (was radioactive for 12 hours! ☢️) only to be told everything was fine! I asked about the raised cancer marker to be told in fact it was marginal!! I felt fine throughout but imagined the worst. As I said 🤞🏻 and I’m thinking of you.

Thanks Sybilw waiting on the tumour marker blood results and waiting to find out when CTScan is. All other tests have been clear so hopefully nothing but want to know for sure.

That’s the thing. I didn’t THINK I was ill but began to fear I really was. Hope it’s the same for you.

No don’t feel ill but lost both parents to cancer 26 years apart, mum this year last March 2019, dad in 1993 he never felt ill or ill in his life until last nine months. Now same age as him. Just very concerning this weightloss I am experiencing
