Hi all, Sorry I’ve been quiet - busy with work and new horse. Not running as much as I’d like but ticking off the interval runs up until todayπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ.

As I graduated last year I went to Parkrun today knowing I could do the distance and determined to take it steady. I still lack strength in that chain of muscles up the back of my legs into my hips and core, so now I run with glutes and an engaged core as much as possible.

Fatigue for me set in at about the 3.5k mark but it was strange. It wasn’t like I ran out of breath or β€˜legs’ as I knew it before the rehab - but I was struggling to put one foot infront of the other. I was at a loss πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ I’d survived no problem after a Friday night of wine and chips before today!! 🀣

It was clear after the finish why - the hamstrings and glutes started to tighten up and cramp 😬 a bit of a new experience!

So it wasn’t a great finish time - only slightly above my average. But my hip feels ok and all the right bits are hurting 😝

Happy to be back among the 5k runners again. I am so rubbish when I am injured and I find it hard to be motivated, when I can’t do as well, or feel as well as I used to. But this feels like real progress, and I have a stronger platform to build back up to 10K. Right now though, 5k is my limit - time for β€˜proper’ consolidation and strength/speed intervals... yummy!!!

Well done. You’ll be back up to 10k and beyond before you know it. Just take it slow and steady, and don’t overdo it.

Nice to hear from you again Equi geek, good that you enjoyed your parkrun today, just a gradual build up to 10K, there are so many versions/podcasts that you can do that to.

Once I run a few 5K runs including parkruns, my first parkrun was last Saturday, next one next week, I may with my new metromone beat/steps per minute app increase my distance to 6K,7K and so on up to 10K at a low setting/pace and see how I do.

Thanks Al, I did the B210k last year on the way to the Great South. Am a little behind last year’s schedule, but once I sort my diet out again I’ll hopefully be back doing JuJu’s plan. Would love to break that 30min 5km barrier though 🀣

So would we all, there have been a few people today who ran their first parkrun sub 30 minutes, congratulations to them

Good to hear you're back at parkrun! I'm currently couched so take your comeback as inapiration. Im hoping to start my own version of c2pre5k on Monday (consisting of walk and rest rather than run and walk!). Good luck getting back to 10k - you can do this πŸ˜€

Back running πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ but more exciting new pony πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ

What have you got?

He’s an 8 yo, iron grey, 16.3 ISH. Hunted in Ireland and competed FEI showjumping in Spain but more importantly he’s passed the 5-stage vetting, very laid back and a lovely character. He charms everyone he meets. He obviously lacked scope or speed to get to the top and was heading back down the competition ladder through dealers, and he is too nice to be passed from pillar to post any more πŸ˜πŸ‘

He sounds gorgeous πŸ’• nothing beats a laid back personality, it makes time with ponio so much more enjoyable. I wish you many happy times together xxx
