Saturdays Run

Mrs LeeU is unable to run today, as we returned from the doctors yesterday she then trapped her right thumb in the car door, the doors are heavy ones and that then meant a trip to A&E where we were told, following an x-ray, that she has broken her thumb. They also had to drill through the nail to let some blood out from under it to relieve some pressure.

With the yellow weather warnings in place I decided I'd drop back to the treadmill this morning.

I couldn't decide whether to do some HIIT style hill sprints or a nice long sloooow run, so I did both.

After the customary 5 minute warm up walk I set off doing 12kph up a 9% incline for 60 seconds, then 3kph for 60 seconds, I did 10 minutes of this and then went straight into a 50 minute slow run, I only stopped so I could make Mrs LeeU a coffee, otherwise I think I'd still be plodding on.

I realised when I was on the treadmill I had missed running on it but at the same time I was disappointed not to be running outside, I want to hit the 5k outdoor mark as I really want to get a 5k charity run done before Christmas so I can then work on the sub-40 minute 5k and progressing onto 10k.

I missed running with Mrs LeeU but we're hoping she can be back running pretty soon, I'm aiming to get her booked in for gait analysis and new running shoes around the 16th as a graduation present. I may still do that and let her run her last week 9 run in the new shoes.

Happy running everyone.

Ouch! I know how much that hurts!

Fingers crossed (no pun intended) for a quick recovery.
