Wk2 R3 - Another one down

I was so tired last night that I decided not to set my running alarm. I figured that if I woke up naturally early, I'd get up and go, if not, I'd do my run after work.

So, I got home from work, got my running gear on and off I went.

Mentally, I think this was my worst run. So much going on in my head from work, I just couldn't focus. Thankfully, the beauty of C25k, is that you dont need to think. You just do as you're told (though I'm not always good at that 😆). Even now, sat here relaxing, it's almost like the run didnt happen, it was such a blur. But, I guess that could be a good thing, right?

Now, I do like the idea from Wenderwoo of posting a song of the run. Mine today was Big Man on Mulberry Street - Billy Joel

Well done on getting out there after work, not sure I could have done that. W2 completed and onwards and upwards to W3. Enjoy your rest day, you deserve it 😁

I think I'm going to stick to morning runs from now on!

They are definitely the best!! Well done though on getting it done ✅

I do all my runs in the afternoon, I have dogs to walk in the morning, and they are not ready for running with so I haven't got much choice! I do find that I don't dwell on all the stuff from work afterwards as much as on rest days. It's almost meditative, which is one of the reasons it is good for your mental health.

Glad you got out there again anyway, blur or not!

I think I've got the bug. It was either run when I get up, or run after work. The idea of not running, never crossed my mind!

Fantastic! I feel a bit the same now, it doesn't seem to come up as an option in my head, except for when I was ill!

And to be fair, that's a valid reason for an extra rest day!

Well done, I hope it helped you put work stuff to the back of your mind by the end of the run.

At the end of the run, I realised I'd forgotten to press 'start' on my run keeper app :-(

But you have it recorded here that you did it so all is well. In a few weeks when you are on longer runs you’ll wonder why you worried about missing recording this one.

Very wise words!

Well done for finishing Wk2 🏃🏻‍♂️ I’ve just completed my Wk2 R3 too- I also struggled to focus but so glad I did it 😊 I’m almost looking forward to Wk3!

Excellent... we'll finish at the same time!

I feel good enough to start wk3 on Wednesday.

However, after finishing wk1 I needed 2 rest days and I think it might be sensible to do the same again.

Me too! I’ve read somewhere that it’s 3 minutes of running in Wk3. I never find the runs that bad- it’s getting out the house in the first place I have problems with 😆

I hear you! Lay all your gear out the night before your run. It's harder to not get out there when your stuff is looking at you with a guilty stare 😆

Need to listen to that song... I’m building a C25K playlist 😀. Well done getting out there with your head spinning with work stuff. It must have passed like a dream 😂. Yes I do as I’m told too! It’s very cathartic but I still can’t figure out when the bell goes.. never seems to be at half way point! Anyway another one bites the dust 🎶

RunningMigsterGraduate in reply toNymahchai

I'll post my playlist as part of my next post on Thursday :-)

I'm sure that bell has a mind of it's own. Problem is when I dont hear it go off and end up going too far in the wrong direction 😆

Look forward to your playlist! Yes that’s what is happening to me ..too far at silly o’clock!

Yes, not necessarily a bad thing... Well done on completing week 2!

I couldn’t even consider getting up earlier to run. I am simply not motivated enough at that hour. I enjoy it after work as for me, it takes away all of the 'work stuff' in my head and I feel I return home after the run clearer and more focused (I nearly added 'refreshed' as that feeling is starting to creep into my cool down). I think the beauty of C25K it’s it can suit the individual, be it morning or night. And, may I add, you don’t always do as you’re told! 🤣

Well done for pushing yourself out there even after a full day at work, I just know that I couldn't do that! From your comments about the run seemed more like a blur afterwards it sounds like you must have been 'in the zone' and just running without realising it, well done!

Fantastic that you went, I haven't tried an afternoon run yet. Tend to go in the morning however this morning I delayed it until 08:30 as it looked very cold at 06:30 😀❄️

Haha... I'm pounding the pavements by 5.50am

It works ok as my wife is up and getting ready for work then too

I don't do mornings, so I've always been an after work runner (where always means, since March). For me it helps blow away any work related niggles so I can have a stress free evening, but it's not everybody's thing. If mornings work for you, go for it. I'm seriously in awe of morning runners, but parkrun aside, I'll never be one as I like my bed far too much...

I do allow myself the occasional exception :-).

But I do love the peace of a morning run. And now the clocks have gone back, I'm hoping to see some nice sunrises

The best time for me to run is the morning - enough energy and inclination to get it done and dusted and then feel good for the rest of the day.
