I had a disastrous run a week ago. I actually stopped running which is a first since taking C25K up, I think it was down to work fatigue. So I had a few days off running and headed back out there on Wednesday and today. Totally nailed my 5k on both days, which I am absolutely elated about.

Well done Mark1909 ...sometimes a few extra days can make all the difference...I've had so many runs where I've sulked back to the car, tripping over my bottom lip on the way whilst chuntering under my breath about packing it all in then, once I've calmed down and realised that I actually do like running and had a word with myself, got back out there in a different frame of mind...and had a little rant on here (!) Things fell I to place...and those extra days have worked wonders for you too because you have def nailed 5k, 35 mins is fantastic!! Keep on going like that and great things will continue!!!

Thanx Mummycav, no two runs are ever the same are they ?!

Definitely not...some runs you feel invincible, other runs you feel like a soggy chocolate wafer wondering what on earth you're doing!!! But that's what keeps us going, always searching for that invincible feeling and as long as we remember that feeling we will never stop x

Haha definitely! 7am on a cold dark Sunday morning and I could have stayed curled up in a nice warm bed..... but no ! X

Haha, I can def see the appeal there Mark1909 ...nice, warm quilt, comfy pillows...it takes dogged determination to drag yourself into the cold!! Kudos to you for that!!

Thank you ! Yes it was determination..... others might argue it was pure lunacy haha.

Can I ask about Strava please? I have the capacity to use it on my Fitbit Versa but wonder if it is useful or necessary given that my fitbit already gives me route information. Oh and congratulations for getting back to it.

Thanx LiziJ ! I use the free app on my smartphone, it gives me route info (as long as I don’t pause the app - which I’ve done twice by mistake !) it gives me an average speed from start to finish of a run. Whilst running the distance is to the 10th of a mile. You can change this to KMs in the settings if you want. On the down side is that it is only when I have finished and saved an activity it will give me my distance to the 100th of a mile. When I look at my run (3.1 miles) in detail, it is breaks down the segments to show my average pace per 1st, 2nd & 3rd mile and also the final 0.1 of a mile. It does however show fastest runs between two geographical points along the way when running over the same route and the fastest mile I’ve achieved along the run.

Some of it for a novice like me is nice to know as opposed to need to know. Give it a go by all means and see how you get on and compare the two would it just duplicate info ? But if your happy with your Fitbit stay with what works best for you, Good luck 👍

Brilliant, so glad you got back in to it. Sounds like work was most inconveniently interfering with life! And you really nailed that 5k! Jealous! 😁

Unfortunately it has had a long habit of doing just that ! The 5k will come - just take it gradually. I’m heading out for another 5k this morning just to consolidate that for the time being before even thinking of going further.

Yes, patience is important, even when we’re itching to push it further!
