Jumping back in where I left off?

After doing week 6 run 3 (and officially being declared a ‘runner’ 🎉) I went on holiday with my family for a week and deliberately left my trainers at home. I’ve hit the all inclusive pretty hard for the last 7 days, so am excited to get back to running tomorrow morning. But I’m not sure if leaping into week 7 is the right thing to do!

You won’t lose any significant fitness over a week, so W7 will probably be fine- slow & steady & well hydrated. 😄

👍W7 for sure! You earned it! You only lose fitness after 2 weeks. Enjoy!

Two weeks? Good to know.. when I leave 4/5 days between the runs I find it sooo hard but then get there somehow.

You should be fine with week 7. Next time definitely pack the trainers!

Go for it, after a good holiday your legs will be fresh and ready to go 👍🏻😁

You've had some interesting replies there. I've got a weeks holiday coming up soon where (for various reasons) I'm not planning to take my running gear with me. If I manage to keep up the progress I'm making at the moment I'm expecting to have completed Week 5 Run 2 before I go. Initially I was expecting to have to drop back to Week 4 again when I got back but now I'm thinking I may just need to re-start Week 5 again and see how I go. I certainly don't want to go straight into W5R3, as that's the first long run, but I also want to maintain my progress if I can.

I missed a week after week four. I went away, relaxed, enjoyed some sunshine and good company. The day after I got back, I went out and did my best run ever. It was a bit of an epiphany for me about the pitfalls of over training and the benefits of rest.

Took all your advice and took up where I left off. Perhaps not my best run ever, but I think that’s probably more down to not being hydrated enough (after a long flight yesterday and a late night post-airport McDonald’s 🙈), but definitely glad I didn’t take a step back! Thank you 👍
