Well it’s lovely to get here, had to repeat week six run three today as I just couldn’t get to 25 min without a few pauses. But tried it tonight with a Nike run app (guided run called Easy Run. 25 min ) so 25 min of listening to a coach with a smooth American voice telling me calmly how valuable slow running is, take it easy l, keep it slow and enjoy it, and enjoy it I DID. Back to trusty Laura tomorrow to start week seven. So happy to have got this far and can feel the graduation run is at my finger tips.

You should be so pleased, 25 minutes non stop is really great. When you think back this all started with 60 seconds. Well done you 😊

You are over the hardest part now. You can do itπŸ˜ƒ on weeks 6 onwards you might have the odd off run but it’s normal don’t sweat it.

Nothing what so ever wrong with slow running, I went out with my wife yesterday to do week 7 run 1 and while it was a slower pace than I'm now used to I was quite happy to slow jog alongside her.

The thing I liked about the end of week 6 was after I had run the 25 minutes I knew I could do week 7 with no issues, except the usual gremlins that is.

9 runs left until you graduate, well done and keep it up. As Laura would have told you at the end of week 6, you are now, officially a runner!

I know !!! Hard to believe. It was so lovely to do the 25min last night as now I just know those extra 5 min are achievable over the next 6 runs. Look forward to graduating with you Ember22 πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“πŸ₯‡πŸ†β€οΈπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ‘

Well done making the 25 mins . That's impressive.

I must admit my regular training has taken a bit of a hit. A week in the sun and I found it too hot to run so I did 20 mins on the treadmill twice instead.

Then when I came home I felt really tired and my legs were like lead but I managed 20 mins withe the help of my running group urging me on. This week I've been in Scotland and have run with my daughter in law but I'm struggling . My legs are like lead and I'm so tired. I actually walked the last 3 mins of the 20 which I've never done before. I honestly don't feel able to increase to 25 mins yet. Should I just try to consolidate 20 mins for another few runs when I'm home next week before pushing on.

When will it get easier? I'm running low on will power to push myself.

Hi Rungranny - if it’s too soon for 25 minutes then stick with 20 until you feel better. It’s fine to repeat weeks as often as you like! I certainly didn’t graduate in 9 weeks - I think it took me about 13 weeks and I’ve never run 5K in 30 mins and probably never will (PB is 36.41 and I’m chuffed to bits with that!). If you’re really tired, you might want to think about diet or supplements. I’m in my 60s and have been taking supplements for a while and they’ve really made a difference - just a thought??

Thanks margo. I do eat pretty well, but with type 2 diabetes I try to keep carbs to a minimum. I think travelling flights etc just took its toll on the legs. I'm determined by get back on track next week.

Well done! A lot of it’s just gritting your teeth and getting on with it, and forgiving yourself when it doesn’t go according to plan. The only race we’re in is against ourselves, I think, and that’s what gives me the perspective. This running malarkey is for life for me, so the odd slow week becomes less important. Bad luck about the type 2, I’m sure your determination will see you through. Good luck!
