I’ve a stinking cold, but want to attempt wk6run3 tomorrow. As I’ve rigidly stuck to the plan to date. Hubby says to wait until the weekend to see if I’m feeling better, but I want to give it a go....any advice gratefully received

A few weeks back I had a head cold but I didn't actually feel unwell and continued to run but it depends if you're feeling lethargic and may not have the energy to run. It's up to you 😊

You have to think about how you would feel if you could either not complete your run or made yourself worse so that you missed future runs. Only you can decide but the run will still be there at the weekend. What would you recommend a friend or colleague? Make the best decision for you and I hope you feel better soon. On a lighter note, it is ok to wipe your nose on hand/arm when running with a cold.😉

Anything from the neck up, run! Anything in the chest, rest! That’s my mantra. Lots of fluids today & Vit C foods. See how you feel in the morning as Buddy34 says & take it nice and slow. Usually helps to clear away the stuffy head! 🤧😷😉

When you run you stress your body.........

When you are ill your body is stressed........

Further stress could make it longer for you to recover.

Personally, I soon realised that it takes longer to recover enough to cope with strenuous physical exercise, than to manage everyday tasks.

I never run if I am under the weather, simply because I know that I am unlikely to enjoy it, it will feel tough and may well slow my recovery.......but I am a self confessed wimp.

Well done for getting there take it easy do the run but if you feel out of breath stop and do 6 shorter sessions than 3 longer ones. I hope this helps

Best to decide in the moment...the amount of times I've thought I wouldn't be able to run the day before then been ok on run day!

Re: colds, it depends on if you feel unwell with it and I've read it's a no no if it's on your chest. So if you're bunged up etc and don't feel too bad I've actually found a gentle run clears my head.

I'm sure depending on how you feel, what you decide in the moment will be the right decision 👍🏃‍♀️
