So I’ve decided new trainers a little graduation gift to me 😊

I don’t want to spend a fortune, advice on best mid price trainers?

Someone told me it’s a good idea to buy half size up to your usual shoe size, is this good advice?

If you have a specialist running shop close by check them out and get a proper gait analysis?

Might be more expensive but they should get you the best shoes for you.

Set yourself a budget, try on lots of pairs in the colours you like and choose the ones that feel best on your feet (a magical combination of lightness and comfort – you'll know when you experience it).

Depending on the brand you might need a whole size bigger than normal.

As @flyingred says. just a question of finding the right pair for you. Take your time. Listen to the advice, but try a few types - more supported and less, rather than gait anaylsis - go by feel.

Get thee to a running shop 👍. They will match you to a shoe It’s no good our saying what we like as it could be completely not right for you Running shop is THE place! Don’t be afraid to ask for last year’s models which are going to be cheaper.

It’s an interesting process. All shoes are different and you might need a full size bigger, as happened to me recently with some Altras’s

Let us know what you get Pics are compulsory We are shoe anoraks on ere 🤓

Make sure it’s a running shop - not just a sports shop! 😃

Have fun

Pink ones. You definitely need pink ones.

It is harder to give you an indication of the model or brand, but here is a list of the things to think about:

Your height, weight, distance run per week, what running surface(s) you run on, feet width (some brands are available in widths), your gait (toe, heel, mid-foot landing), your pronation (under/over/neutral), preference for toe-drop, preference for stiffness or support, preference for cushioning, preference for light/heavier shoe.

A visit to your local independent running store (hint: it is not a warehouse on the edge of town) will work you through the things to think about, probably analyse your running gait, find a selection of shoes that fit your budget, and send you off with a pair of shoes that suit you (and offer a guarantee if you don't get on with them).

FAQ is here:

A half-size up is generally a good idea.

Wow! Lots to think about!! 🤔🤔

Definitely get gait analysis done at a running shop to see what shoes are right for you , try different makes on see how they feel you may need a size bigger or more depends on the brand

Usually last seasons models can be cheaper than the current ones if you are not bothered by that . 😊

Sorry, Your Wobbleness. That is a 'stock' answer from me, and I normally adjust the colour to reflect the gender of the person making the post. Nothing wrong with pink, is there ?? ;-)

So I bottled the proper gait trainer, felt a bit intimidating!

The young man in Asics very helpful and did an analysis which looked at arch height etc and helped me choose a pair in my price range! Went up a shoe size and he taught me what those extra lace holes are for 🤣

Got to get out and get em dirty now!!

I don’t know how to post a pic on here?

You can't post a picture in a conversation (like this). You can only post a picture in a new post.

Posting a picture of your new shoes in a new post guarantees that it is seen by everyone :-)

If you could post a picture here, it would only be seen by you and me!

Gait analysis. Specialist running shop. Job done.
