We shall be starting a group for Ju-Ju-‘s magic plan starting on the weekend of the 9th/10th of November.
You need to be a C25K graduate who is comfortable running either 30 minutes or 5k at your own pace. This plan will introduce you to varied runs and have a little formal cross training (hopefully you’re already doing some!)
Interested in crossing that bridge? Come run with me!
It’d be great to have you, no doubt there, but if you’re not ready yet that’s cool. It’s my opinion that you need to want to do it as well as being ready. Sounds like you’ll do it... doesn’t matter when... it’ll call you, you’ll almost need to do it... if that call comes in the next couple of weeks come join us even if you’re a little late for the official start. The biggest factor, in my mind, is to enjoy your running and when you do run 10, you’ll love it!
I’m due to graduate this week, and I’d love to get to running for an hour or close to 10k. How often do these groups start? I’m thinking after reading some posts on here that I might need to spend more time consolidating my 30 min runs before I start increasing?
Hi... firstly well done and enjoy closing out C25K.
We only run one group at a time and so with a couple of weeks between them we would be looking at 10-12 weeks. The plan is, of course, available to start at any time, so if you’re ready and want to get on that road it’s there for you as soon as you feel ready.
Consolidation is indeed recommended after C25K, and every few months... Many also consolidated on 10k. It’s hard to predict how long consolidation will take, its aim is simply to make the 30 minute runs comfortable. Some go to 5k before consolidation too, so there’s also that factor. I took a couple of weeks to be ready to change things up, some take hardly any time and others prefer a couple of months.
Weather could also be a consideration, the next group plan would be due to run through the worst of the winter, and ice could be an issue for some. Some runners consolidate during this time, ready to push on with plans again in the spring.
Hope this helps... if you decide to go onto the plan outside a formal group, you’ll still have plenty of support and experience to call upon over on the Bridge to 10k forum.
That’s for the reply, you raised a lot of good points that I hadn’t even considered! I’ll see how things go between now and 9th Nov and make a decision closer to the time.
You’d be welcome of course... how comfortable is that 30 minute run though? It’s good, indeed recommended, to consolidate every few months and make the current workload comfortable... and the end of C25K is a logical point to do this.
Tend to settle into the run. Next few weeks will be interesting running back to back long runs. Recover on rest days with yoga, golf, badminton, gardening & walking. Understand your concerns so I’ll decide nearer the time. Thanks 😊
No worries... it’s all your decision, if you’re ready you’re ready... some people are comfortable at graduation, for others getting over that line is a battle!
I crossed that Menai bridge 😄(yes I recognise it!) did the juju plan and have recently completed my first marathon. 😊. So if you are looking for a challenge to take you beyond C25K, Juju’s plan worked great for me. What I really liked was it’s simplicity. Good luck and enjoy the journey to all who take it on. 👍
I was looking for a bridge I knew that wasn’t intimidatingly long, but I could also get pictures of runners on... so I knew of the parkrun on the Severn bridge, but that’s huge and Menai, which I intend to run across... picture on C25K post for this is from below and to the side.
Congratulations on that first marathon.. and many thanks for taking the time to come and encourage this new group
Happy running
Hiya! I just left a message on the link. I’d love to join in. I’m due to graduate 2nd November so I hope that means I can join in so soon after graduation?
