Advice please post sickness bug

Hello running wise ones, I picked up a horrible bug from my eldest on Friday. Only a 24 hour thing but it’s left me feeling pretty wiped out. I’ve got run 3 of week six to look forward to, the 25 minutes run. My last run was Thurs 17th which went well. How long should I wait before attempting - I’m feeling myself again today but I’m pretty sure there’s nothing in the tank for running. Anyone know what would be best? Thank you

Perhaps you should rerun week 6, start at run 1, that way you should be able to build up to the third 25 minute run of week 6.

Thanks - not a bad idea

I’m no expert, but I wouldn’t run until you feel full of beans - if it was me, I’d give myself a couple more days of rest and good food and hydration. As I understand it, you don’t lose fitness until you’ve been out for a couple of weeks. Just make sure you go slow!

I think I’m worried about momentum but as you say, need to hydrate and rest. Thanks

I get what you mean. Maybe plan a run into your day now for Tuesday or Wednesday to keep that up?

It takes longer to recover to be able to cope with strenuous physical exercise than to get back to normal everyday tasks. If you want to enjoy your run, take your time and come back fully refreshed.

You lose next to no condition in the first two weeks of non running.

Two weeks...interesting. No rush then. Thanks

If you're feeling lethargic due to being unwell just leave it a few more days . No point in going out running and draining yourself even more. Get well soon 😊😊

Go for a walk for a couple of days and see how you feel those bugs wipe you out for longer than you realise and you have to have time to replace all that lost fluid too
