Rubbish illness

I had a cold last week, and it's floored me! I'm much better now, but blimey, my pace has slowed down quite drastically. Before my cold I was beginning to get to an average of 7 mins 20 secs per km. On Monday I ran and it was 10 mins a km. Today was a bit better at 8mins 45 a km. I just can't quite believe the impact a cold has on my running. I'm a bit nervous now as I signed up for a 5k run next sat....

By next Saturday your cold will have gone and you will be able to run that 5K in around 36 minutes the way you ran before your cold, good luck for that 5K next Saturday. 😊 🏃🏾

Hopefully by next Saturday you will be back to full fitness. Just look after yourself that's the most important. Good luck 😊

Recovery is more important than a race time in the 5k. Would it be the end of the world if you had to do some of it slowly? A week is a long time, look after yourself and dont overdo things trying to rush recovery. Take care

I'm not bothered about how fast I do it, it's just I'm on week 8 and I haven't quite reached the 5k mark. I gues I will just have to power through the last 5 or 10 mins next week

Flush out the effects of the virus with plenty of water on both run and rest days!! Don’t push your self! Your body will tell you if you are ready or not to run 5K. Health is always No1.
