Podcast timing versus real time

Just been on the 2nd run of week 8 and compared the time on the podcast with my Fitbit and found approx 4 minutes discrepancy where the podcast was short, eg the warm up per the podcast was 3 minutes not 5 and the run was 24 minutes and not 28. Have any of you found this to be the case?

I used the app, not the podcast, but no I didn’t find any significant discrepancy.

I might (though late in the programme!) download the app then as was disappointed to find that I had only run for 24 minutes instead of the 28 per the podcast!!

Are you sure it wasn’t a watch error? Could have paused accidentally or something? Or an accidental fast forward on the podcast? I don’t know, I only ask because the podcasts are several years old and I’ve not seen this issue raised before.

Will double double check when I do run 3 of week 8 on Friday or Saturday and will let everyone know how the timing goes!!

Didn't notice this, if anything thought I may have been out longer than some of the podcasts suggested.

I noticed the timings were often a few seconds different during the early weeks of the programme, when I was using the podcasts, but I didn't see a bigger difference than that. As of this week (week 7 for me) I've switched to the app, so I can listen to my own choice of music.

Didn’t know you can choose your own music!! Have downloaded the app now and will use for week 9 as I will double check the timing when I do run 3 this week.

Yeah - it's really nice. Only glitch I find is that my Music app (Tidal) seems to be a lot quieter than the app, so I have Laura shouting at me when she comes on air with her announcements!

I used the podcast and compared the times to the time on the treadmill, if anything the podcast is slightly longer that it should be but only by 30 seconds.

I'm due to run tomorrow, I think I still the podcasts on my phone so I'll run week 8 and check.

ok, just ran it, yes I know I could just have listened to it but where is the fun in that.

I may have started the treadmill a few sends before she says to start the brisk warm up walk but here goes:

The start to run prompt came at 5:10 (I'm using the treadmill timer by the way), the half way came at 18 minutes, the last 5 minutes came 25:59 and then the walk again at 30:50.

So the podcast is slightly out, parts are actually too long!

Hello all. I am not going mad!! I did screen shots of my phone which show the real time and the podcast time for week 8 run 3. The podcast is definitely “speeded up” or something. I left home for my run at 8.13 with podcast timing at 0.07. At 8.17, It said to start running (podcast showed 5.35 but phone time meant 4 minutes). At 8.36, it said to stop running and do the warm down, which per my arithmetic is 19 minutes of running whereas podcast showed 33.53 (which should have been 28.18 minutes of running). I guess for week 9, I am really going to struggle!! Will delete the podcast and use the app for my graduation runs next week. Will let you all know how I get on! Wish me luck!

I went out for run 1 of week 9 this morning and used the app with Michael Jordan’s lovely voice giving encouragement! Having only run for 24 minutes last week as the podcast for week 8 is “speeded up”, I was very very glad when my 30 minutes were up. I managed to run non-stop and can’t wait for my run on Wednesday to see how I get on again. Wish me luck!!
