A quick post to say that, if you are contemplating Parkrun, already running them or have any interest in Parkrun at all, then you may know it’s the 15th Birthday celebrations on Saturday 5th October 🥳🥳🥳.
So, there is a bit of a buzz in the media about this and there’s some telly to watch whilst you’re resting your weary legs (according to the latest Free Weekly Timed Podcast (freeweeklytimed.com)):
- The One Show, BBC One at 7pm on 4th October - Paul Sinton-Hewitt (Founder)
- BBC Breakfast from 6am - Tom Williams (Country Manager) - don’t know exactly what time he’s on but I’m sure he’ll be done before he and you have to get to a Parkrun somewhere 😁
There’s probably going to be a lot on the radio too!
And of course birthdays mean there’s probably lots of cake at parkruns across the country this weekend 😋
Enjoy and have fun lovely runners 🥳🥳🥳

Thanks. Planning to record or watch on iplayer, also planning on attending my local parkrun where we get a free timed 5 k for birthday celebrations and are donated to foodbank and wearing milestone t.shirts , normal t shit for me tho. Probably have to force some cake down too! haha
I meant to say that are parkrun are doin a collection for the food bank. Trying to see what's happening on here whilst at work 😂. And not reading what I type!!
Thanks for letting us know TailChaser. I put a post on our local parkrun Facebook asking whether they are doing anything to mark parkrun 15th and Southsea’s 6th birthday 🎂- no response. Hope other parkruns are more proactive.
That’s a shame. We always have cake at ours anyway so there’ll probably just be more and there is always something done for the event birthday. I expect there’ll be something mentioned in the pre-run briefing if nothing else, our Event Director is very enthusiastic and his better half is Run Director tomorrow!
