Way back on 11 May 2019, as a freshely graduated C25Ker, I did my first ever parkrun at Vogrie Country Park ( parkrun.org.uk/vogrie/ ) - about 12 miles south of Edinburgh. My time that morning was 36:45.
On that same route, a little over two years later, on 14 August 2021, on the first parkrun after the pandemic, I set what is still my parkrun PB of 25:58.
Today, I reached the milestone of my 100th parkrun; the time 33:41. It was also the anniversay of my return to parkrun after havinb been absent for 10 months as I struggled with the effects of long covid.
My recovery is still very much a "work in progress". While I did manage to get back to 10k distance last year, a bad cold before Christmas set me back again, and so far this year, parkruns are all I have been able to do.
But still, the days are getting longer and, apparently, warmer, and after the year that was 2023 where I could barely move from the couch, I'm just grateful that I'm able to get out and run at all.
So, happy running everyone, whatever distances and paces you are achieving. The important thing is that you are getting out and doing what you are able to, and that is something that should never be taken for grsnted.
