Hey you are doing great, how important is it to finish this week over getting a more serious injury. Tough choice this far through the program. Take care and good luck

I just finished my W9R2. It’s strange, I never had my calves starting to hurt until the last two weeks when the runs have got longer and my jogging speed got slower for those longer runs. Before it was always just my hips and thighs. There is a really good post run stretch workout on the NHS site I use. Also I use a stiff brush and exfoliating scrubs in the shower afterwards that helps. I hope you feel better soon, rest longer if your body is telling you to.

How about trying a “bit less intense” plan and see if it helps - take an extra rest day or 2, and when the calf feels better try the run but at a slower pace and be prepared to stop if you need to. Sounds like you might be pushing it as you get to the end. Natural, but remember your goal of parkrun participation. You really, really don’t want to get into chronic injury territory!

yes i think i have been pushing myself these last few runs by going faster and further, i just really wanted to finish it, but i did the run on saturday so i will trying leaving the last run for a week, i just worry ill loose my fitness, sad i know.

You won’t lose fitness in a week. Keep stretching, walking etc & give it a no-impact rest for a few days. 😊

Slow right down and stretch thoroughly afterwards - use a foam roller on the offending area - if it doesn’t hurt like hades you’re not doing it properly 😂 - and try ibuprofen spray/ gel. An extra rest day will also help! Good luck and look forward to seeing that graduation badge shortly!
