What to do next 🤔

Finished my final run a couple of weeks ago and am amazed with myself, from never running before or doing any exercise, this is the only thing I have ever stuck to and can’t tell you how proud I feel with myself.. My problem is, what to do next , I am currently re running week 9 over and over, I was thinking if joining a local running club or can anyone suggest further apps to encourage me to continue with running before I go off the boil. Thank you.. Julie

You could try a 30 minute run and a faster 20 minute run then pick one run per week to add a bit in to every week. Joining a running club would be great idea also. Good luck 😊

Congratulations on completing the plan, and maintaining your running. The best advice is to do what you’ve done and keep running 30 minutes until it’s comfortable (consolidation). It sounds like you are there or thereabouts right now, so there’s a choice or 2 to be made. Do you want to run for fitness and health alone or do you want to go further/faster. The latter two are closely related and usually faster needs further.

One key is to vary the runs up, which any good plan going forwards will do. We have one (well 2) plans on the Bridge to 10k forum healthunlocked.com/bridgeto10k which will have you moving up to 10k or 60 minutes on your long run (once a week) while varying the runs up in between. Most (all decent) 5k race plans will involve a similar approach, with more emphasis on speed work.

I use Nike Run Club to record my runs. It has race plans (I’m 11 weeks into the half marathon one) but also has guided runs which offer up some in ear coaching for runs of varying lengths/durations. I find that invaluable and when my plan has a length of run that there’s a guided one for I use it. They have a few different 30 minute ones too if you’re not looking to go further or faster at this stage.

Whatever you choose, just keep enjoying it, and mix it up if it gets boring.

Happy running.
