I’ve shocked myself!

Hi, I’m so overweight and unhealthy I surprised myself starting the couch to 5k on Thursday. Instead of turning over and going back to sleep this morning I went out on my own and did my second run!! I’m in shock. But determined!!

It's determination that will keep you going . Just go slow and make sure you're drinking plenty water 7 days a week not just on run days. C25k is an amazing plan and really does work you'll get lots of encouragement and support on here good luck 😊😊

That’s brilliant- well done 👍👍👍This really is an amazing programme, isn’t it? We don’t recognise ourselves.

Will be looking forward to more posts!

Wow! Well done, you! Take a look at Japanese Slow Jogging on YouTube. It will help you a lot. Make sure you post on here after each run, so we can cheer you on, and offer advice if necessary. 😀

I don't want to sound condescending but well done, just starting out on C25K is daunting and I must admit, before I did it properly for the first time in 2017 I must have started it 10 times, never getting past the first run as I'd just have 5 more minutes after eating, etc as I used to run in the evenings then.

Just take it slow and steady and enjoy each run, you can do this.

Fantastic! Measure yourself - because you will lose many many inches doing this!

If you struggle as the durations increase there is the wonderful Japanese slow jogging technique that will help. I first saw this in w6 and wish I’d found it earlier. It’s low impact and designed to avoid injury, but is fantastic for building strength and stamina. And here’s an interesting thing - you use the same calories running 5k fast or slowly - it’s the distance not the speed that counts!

I wish I could give you a peak into your future self after you’ve completed c25k - you’ll feel stronger, fitter & trimmer than you have in years. And just brilliant starting now - you’ll be a full on runner by Christmas! Go you!! x
