Have been doing this since April, running 4.7/5km 3/4 times a week.
Motivation was to try and reduce my hba1c level, before I started had my worst ever reading of 67.
Just got latest result and it’s only gone to 63- not worth all the effort : (

So sad for you about this result BUT against that you will have gained fitness & so much more that was worth the effort! Don’t give up on running! I do hope your doctor has some good advice for you. Feeling for you!
I am sorry to hear that you did not get the result you were hoping for, but not worth the effort, really?
You are probably much fitter in all sorts of ways and experiencing the physical and psychological impacts of regular exercise.
Are you following a special diet? I think that what you eat will have the greatest impact on blood sugar. Maybe have a look at the LFHC forum?
Don't be despondent, it's still a reduction, and the programme is great, but it's not a magic wand.
The exercise, combined with a healthy diet should have a steady ( not dramatic) effect on your blood sugar.
You will likely see an improvement in your blood pressure and resting heart rate too.
Do you feel any benefits?
I had hoped to lose some weight, but didn't!, but I did stop the 5:2 diet and seem to be steady.( I don't weigh myself anymore) I'm certain that I have increased stamina and I really enjoy how I feel after the run.
I hope that you can see further than the HbA1c and wrangle something positive out of it😐
But it’s gone down. And you are exercising 3/4 times a week! That’s fantastic and positive and such a great thing to do for your physical and mental health. If your physical health improvements are matched by improvements to your diet, I’m sure you will continue to see improvement to your Hba1C. Keep at it. X
I don't think you should be disappointed it has went down and when you continue to run the next time you get it checked it will go down again. Just keep going. Good luck 😊
My understanding is that every point matters and you have stopped 4 pounds that’s brilliant! Please don’t be down hearted 😁 There are many advantages to getting fit.
Not an expert but I thought hba1c was a kind of average over last 12 weeks. That means if you keep going with the running you may see more of a difference at your next measurement.
You will have definitely improved your fitness which is always good
I agree - I heard/read (my dad is type 2 diabetic) that these levels reflect the last 3-4 months as red blood cells are around for 3 to 4 months, I know you started in April, but I think the next reading will be more telling than this one
I am not a medical expert and I may have misunderstood, but do check with your doctor about the interpretation of the results
