Does anyone else find that the music they listen to has a direct effect on the success of their run, or is that just me 😂😂

Not just you! I definitely find that listening to something upbeat or fun really helps me to power through my run. I've got a few really cheesy 'guilty pleasures' songs in my running playlist, and I can't help but grin to myself when they come up in the track shuffle! :D

Yes definitely I love my music while running , i like songs with a fast beat I've just got to remember not to run to the beat all the time or I would tire too soon. 😊

Like when I’ve got flash dance and I wonder if I’ll be found in some 80s style coma from trying to keep up

Couldn’t run without it... my R1 each week is slower/relaxing stuff to keep me focussed on slow🐌 & then varied playlists for R2 &3. Someone suggested the radio...may give that a try next time

Love the idea of a relaxed playlist for run one of the week

It’s a major thing for me and my playlist is a well crafted beast! Need lots of (literally!) upbeat stuff but equally a lot of musical “comfort food” - having turned 50 last year, a lot (almost all sadly!) of my tunes are 80s classics! Lot of Springsteen, Jam, Style Council, etc then a selection of Bond themes but my real guilty pleasure but 🏃‍♂️turbo charger is “Come On Eileen”!! Don’t know if I need a 🏃‍♂️ coach or a psychologist!!

Ooh come on Eileen might be a bit dangerous when it goes super fast!

Come on Eileen . Is a massive song to me as I first heard it when on the waltser while on holiday when I was a child . Happy memories😊😊

And I bet you’ve heard it since at every wedding reception you’ve been to!! Top get up and go song!!!

Yes definitely although mine is a bit tired now and needs updating

I edit my playlist quite a lot so I don't get fed up listening to the same songs all the time . It's like picking a new route to run it keeps it interesting 😊

I have a radio app playing and I find I change my pace to the beat of the music.

in reply toScouser67

So if a very slow song comes on your pace becomes very slow?

Scouser67 profile image
Scouser67Graduate in reply to

Yeah it does. I don’t listen to very slow songs btw. But it does change. 😂

in reply toScouser67

I'd nod off of it was slow for to long 😅

Yer into the faster songs then, like what?

I agree, I wouldn’t be able to get through each session without my music, I have tried to sing along but soon realised its quite difficult to sing whilst attempting to run so now just mime 🤦🏼‍♀️ goodness know what I look like 😆

Music definitely changes my running

Absolutely! I have faster playlists for faster runs and one massive 7hr playlist for general running so I get a good mix on shuffle or if I want a certain vibe or sing along I pick specific albums 👍🏻😁

Amazing isn’t it. I find myself running to the beat. If I’m flagging and the right song comes on it gives me that little boost to push though 😂😂

I did the plan years ago and just listened to the music supplied by the Podcast - is Me and Julie still on there?

I HATED that song and couldn't wait for it to end!

I love to listen to music! I have also found listening to podcasts brilliant. I think it's an acquired taste but I love it because I get sucked into the conversation and forget I'm running. It's been great for me :D
