Early mornings - with a photo!

Morning all! So W2R2 this morning, up early again and just as beautiful... This is a shot of the road I tootle along before turning off into a lane and then a bridle path. And where I saw the hares on Tuesday. No hares today, but plenty of birds waking up and a v-formation of geese went flying over. Lovely!

Only on 90 seconds of running currently, but I find the first run really difficult. Panting like a steam train! Gets better as I go along; but is this common?

Yup! It’s called the toxic 10 - and although you’ve done the warm up walk it’s about blood pumping oxygen to your muscles, and them getting properly warmed up. If you start nice and slow it’s easier (I stay nice & slow!).

A-ha! That explains it! Thank you. 😁

Beautiful morning photo. If you're breathing really heavily you're going to have to slow it down. It's said on here all the time but it's the only thing that will work. Well done you 😊😊

Beautiful photo. Definitely normal to be puffing, just means you are probably setting off too fast and need to slow down a bit

I had exactly the same, SteamQueen. Try extending your walm up walk to ten minutes and consider whether that first run is on a hill - might be best to adjust your route slightly if so.

I was initially running all my first run and some of my second on a hill, and then wondering why I was struggling 😂

I tend to find you don’t really realise how hilly an area is until you try and run around it - I’d never considered that part of my run to be on a hill.

Thank you, NearlyMan, good idea. I will extend the warm up a little!
