Are tough runs normal?

Ran W3R1 on Tuesday and was buzzing as found it much easier than I expected. Not easy by any means but ok. Went out today and it was incredibly hard! Don’t know if it was because I ran on grass for the first time instead of the pavement or just if this is what happens?? It’s made me nervous to go on Saturday now! Hopefully it’ll be back to doable then. 🤞

It does just happen but grass is much harder to run on too although it’s better on your joints. Bad runs are standard though 🤣

Don't worry all runs are different and some are good some not so much, it gets better. Also I think running on grass is harder than the pavement . Go out and enjoy your Saturday run 😊

Yup you will have some great runs and some not good ones, just consider you ran and it’s over so look forward to the next run

Yes and no.

As above, grass can be tough as it saps energy... it also reduces the impact so it’s a little bit swings and roundabouts. First time off pavements and on to grass? 100% guaranteed tough run! I run on grass a lot, when I want to go for a PB, I run on tarmac!

Tough runs will come for sure. Which is ok as it gives us chance to develop the mental strength to get through them.

I say yes and no, because not all tough runs are equal. Sometimes we didn’t get enough sleep, we didn’t eat well, hydration was off, we were too stressed, etc etc... so then there’s a reason we can find for it being so tough and fix for next time. Then there’s the opposite... we do everything just like the run before and it still sucks.

The next run tends to be a lot smoother though!

Thanks guys. Went out for W3R3 in new shoes and positive attitude and did it! Ankles still awful but powered through. No idea how I’m going to manage W4, it sounds impossible. I’ll give it a try though!
