Cornish runs?

Hello all

Me and the kids are off on holiday tomorrow to stay with my sister in Truro... I wanted to ask if anyone could recommend some coastal or inland runs? Leon, my other sister and I want to do a 10, 15, or might go for 20k type runs??? I so love the sea, I used to live in Falmouth but of course I never ran anywhere then!!!!

Also- Leon and I did our second 15k yesterday. It was amazing,it felt so good to be close to him, and be close to the elements with the wind in our hair. On the plus side 50% of people smiled. We agreed we would poke our tongues out at anyone that didn't!!!

So anyway any recommended Cornish routes would be most welcome.....

I wanted to post this on questions but couldn't? I'm on my phone as Internet cut off at home so it could be that?!

Thank you, juicyju

15K! Excellent. I did 12 yesterday and that felt good too. Enjoy your hols; running in Cornwall sounds pretty cool. If you want somewhere flat the Bodmin Trail is good (Bodmin to Padstow & back), although not terribly close to Truro.

Well done you too I bet that felt fantastic?? The Bodmin trail sounds great, ill look it up. Ill have the car so driving anywhere isn't a problem.

I did of course (!) mean the Camel Trail, as Beads has pointed out. Doh! We have a family ritual when we cross it on the way to Wadebridge. We cross it near the River Camel and we always shout "Look out, see if you can see a river camel" - (we are 63, 63 & 37 respectively!!). Never seen one yet; perhaps you'll be luckier.

These might help, or give a rough location to try perhaps.

Always fun to go somewhere new and explore - especially when on holiday. :-)

Take a day off (you are on holiday) and go to one if the best beaches around at Porthcurno. The water is great, you can dive in as the sand drops away quickly and the waves are epic.

If you still feel like runing then you could try starting in Fowey and take the Ferry over the rier. It will mean a fairly steep hill bor two but not many runs include a ferry ride.

Enjoy your holiday.

I so love that beach !!! Oh yes I love the idea of a run and ferry ride combo!!! Thank you

15k is an amazing distance - your right to feel pleased with yourself & your boy for that matter too... so did the other 50% of them get the tongue stuck out at them?

So envious as I'm still struggling to get out there , let alone get past 7k (but then I'm a little behind on my plan) - so hopefully my two weeks in wet Wales I can get back on track.

One of the things I love about Endomondo is that you can see and run routes which other users have made public - this one is 13k, & almost half of it is running along the river bank - so not quite costal, but it shouldnt be far off.

I'm from Penzance originally and was down a few weeks ago.

You could get the train down to Pz from Truro and do the Mount's Bay run. There is a path/cycle path starting right next to the station. From there to Marazion along Mounts Bay is 5k so a 10k round trip. If you want to go the other way then follow the coast from Penzance through Newlyn to Mousehole and back will also be a 10k round trip.

You'll have a nice view and breeze which ever way you choose :-)

Thanks pasty man...my mum lives in hayle so she's fairly close by. That sounds like a fab run, we will have to do it. I so want to run on the coastline and see the sea!!!

Camel trail? Is that what it's called, a disused railway line. We were going to cycle it last year when we went down that way but the rain got the better of us. It's not on the coast though and it's a 'straight' line so out and back rather than round in a circle. On the plus side you can go as far or short as you like, so long as you can get back.
