Back outside again this morning, after a treadmill run at the weekend. Was great to be back on my usual running trails and the weather was mild and misty, so no ice to contend with this time π I so much prefer being outside!
I went with the NRC 'Easy Run' again today and I warmed to Couch Bennett this time. In fact I think his advice kept my pace at a point where I really enjoyed it. 7.0/km is actually quite quick for me but as I started slowly and was able to put more effort in at the end it didn't seem like a slog at all (which it really can sometimes). I seem to have maintained my fitness over Christmas and not running outside or my usual time/distance, which is really pleasing. πͺ To quote an old phrase, this was a gazelle type run π¦π
I did have a technical issue where the app paused the run and I couldn't work out how to unpause it, which meant I ran for longer than the 25 minutes, but as I was still feeling good it didn't really matter.
I'll try a different run next time, a 30+ minute run, I hope it's as enjoyable as this one π€

Well done mate, great when they feel easy! ππ» There's some excellent runs on nrc and Coach B is usually very entertaining.
I'm currently trying the Garmin coaching, 20 weeks to half marathon. Week 1 has been very easy so far. Just taking the watches advice and seeing if it works getting me back to HM distance in a relatively short time.
2 days in South London after today so next run be Saturday. It says "long run" but it's under 5km at a slow pace π going to trust the process for the 20 weeks though and hopefully it works.
I've recently (as part of MissUnderstanding 's 'Get to 10k' ) done some runs measured by time rather than pace. This is a departure for me and I have to say that, like you, I really enjoy them and the absence of the "push, push. push" internal dialogue!
Iβm exactly the same! Running for time just feels more chilled and itβs easier to plan and fit into the day because you know exactly how long the run will last compared with a distance one. One of my favourite ways to run! Itβs amazing what a small change like that can do to your mindset β€οΈ
CB and the guided runs are foe many of us when we move forward from C25K, so, so useful. I use them regularly and find the relaxed approach so valuable.
