Up with the sparrows at 7am as I knew today is going to get hot very quickly. Left the house at 07.30.
14 minutes into the 25 min run, I started to slow up and before I knew it I was walking. Michael had only just informed me that I had run for 12.5 minutes and that I was halfway through and that's when it hit me. There was no way I could run for another 12.5.
I know that today was purely my mind playing tricks and I will try again as today all I could think about was how long I had left- NOT how long I had actually run for.
I did carry on running after a couple of mins walking and did complete the 25 mins but will try again on Tuesday for the full run.
Disappointed that I didn't manage today ( as I did week 5 run 3 ok!).

Not a fail, just a practice run. We all get them. You did the time but in two bursts. Just call it “interval training”, have a rest day, drink plenty of water ((especially tomorrow), and then set off again. Start sloooowly and then speed up if you feel fine. As you say, much of running is in our heads. 😄 But the legs need a bit of pampering too. 🐢 wins. 👍
Thanks for the advice. I looked at my stats from my fitbit and I'm running at 8.5 km ph which may be a tad to "quick" !!!!! I'll take it down a notch for attempt number 2!
Yep, that’s pounding along in tortoise terms. Concentrate on building stamina and endurance for a while and speed will sort itself out later. Good luck. 🐢👍
It’s not a fail at least you’re trying more than the person sat down on the couch. So sounds like you’re setting off to fast slow down at the start think of why you first started C25K and relax go slower and in time you’re pace and endurance will improve just don’t force it it will come to you naturally and hydrate enough water is our friend and try again another day and all will fall in place happy running 😉👏👏👍🏃♀️and enjoy yourself 👍
You say it was all in your head, but how well prepared were you physically? We're you well rested, fully hydrated and sufficiently fuelled up? All these things are in your control and can impact your running in a big way, but many new runners think they can just bolt on strenuous exercise into daily life without any effect.
Give it some thought and your less than perfect run can become an important learning process.
12.5 can’t be a fail... you crossed the start line... and a few weeks ago 12.5 was impossible! Now 12.5 is possible on your bad days... that’s pretty amazing progress if you ask me.
The threshold of failure does move swiftly upwards while we are doing this plan... do yourself a big favour and lower it again. Take the pressure off and relax into your runs. You’ll get it next time out.
