Managed to do my wk8 R2 last Sunday in prep for parkrun 5k next Saturday. I stretched as usual afterwards but later in day I developed back and hip pain which was really bad. Dont really know if it was related to run or something else. Anyway pain was pretty bad so left off running until Wednesday when back was improving but not better...I did Wk8 R3 but VERY slowly....Big mistake! Been much worse since. Struggling with walking, sleeping etc. Feel gutted as worried i wont be ok for next Saturday and Im missing the buzz from the challenge of the programme. I was running evety other day so im feeling really sluggish already. Any tips for going forward? Friend says if im not in pain next Saturday then still do parkrun as my body now knows how to run it will be the mental challenge of it?

If you are in pain your body is telling you to stop doing things that exacerbate it.
If I were you I would consult a GP or physio. You may just need to improve core strength, but hip pain suggests something else.
Parkrun is every Saturday throughout the year, so no need to get fixated on one date.

Hi Beelady (what a lovely name!). Listen to Iannoda Truffe - he’s the master! If you hurt, it’s because there’s something not right. A trip to the doc or physio is probably in order, you don’t want to risk making things worse. Good luck, heal well and soon!
