After the high comes the low

So after the euphoric 5k last Monday I’d done nothing other than a big walk on Tuesday when visiting a friend. Felt yucky all week but as I’m off on holiday to Cornwall tomorrow where no running will occur but much walking, eating and drinking , thought I’d better head out. The mind is a powerful thing and it kept telling me I didn’t want to be doing this but I plodded on aiming for a 15 mins out 15 mins back but at 20 felt a little sick and leg twinging. I stopped and walked for about 30 seconds. Felt guilty as not stopped to walk since way back in week 6, kicked back in thinking this is a bad move and ran home . I need to do more ankle/ calf work on my days off as am stiffening up which doesn’t help. Hoping for another euphoric run in the future, meanwhile I’ll rest, stretch and recharge . Happy running all!

At least you got out, so well done ⭐️ ! Have you tried the NHS Strength and Flex podcasts ? Great for rest days and overall fitness.

Enjoy your holiday; you deserve it. Walking is great and therapeutic. Have you considered yoga to help with stretching? I find it works well along with running.

Have dabbled with yoga and Pilates in the past so may try to get some sort of home routine going- thanks!
