Should I say I am on the injury couch???

Ok it is not strictly injured as per se. This week I only have managed to run once. The reason is my scar on my left calf is hurting like hell, only been aggravated by running. The thing is the scar has never bothered me ever since having an operation from it.... Not even when I started C25K. Only bothered me ever since I am in Spain and on my week 9. So my reasons could be the weather, or/and I am forming new nerve endings or/and muscle regeneration faster due running. I don't know it is bad news or good news... I think it is something I need to check with the doctor first.... But I am itching to run.... Has anyone have this?

Hi, how old is the scar? You may want to find someone who does scarwork to help you. It could be related to heat/hydration although it could be related to your muscle growth as your running builds up, or as you said already, nerve related. Tissue around a scar is not very mobile, a scarworker can soften the most scars and help surrounding tissue return to normal. If its very painful then see your GP as soon as you return home

The scar is around a year, but I had two operations on the same area due to a melanoma detected last year. I have been massaging ever since, but still is tight. I am coming back to the UK tomorrow. So I will probably check by the dermatology department I am currently on. So my thinking is if the health practitioners advise to move around as soon as possible after cesarean section (I have 2) although not running after 6 months... Then shouldn't be the same for that calf scar? So may be it is a very good thing. But I think it is best checked by my GP? May be better for me to run in the UK, as it is more humid and my skin is usually more hydrated? 🤔

You are welcome! I hope it resolves quickly. Scarwork is quite different from regular massage, so worth doing also if you can afford it (and if you can find a scarwork therapist!)

I will try, there is not many around but hopefully it is not the end of my running. It would be a shame, because I enjoy it. I am new runner though, so I didn't think my scar would be an issue but hey one learns!!! Thank you

I cannot give you advice but I know my calves are much fuller with increased muscle now than when I started running. Some of us have found our tight jeans have got tighter in the lower leg and looser on the hips.

Your suggestion to seek advice from the dermatologist is a great one. Good luck and enjoy the rest of your holiday.

That makes sense though, they are not bigger my calves yet (hopefully not lol) but I have found it is slightly leaner and perhaps slightly harder not much, but it could be that. See what Drs say... Thank you.
