Hi guys hope all is well. I decided to give this another try, did my 1st run again tonight. Previously I got to w1 r3 and couldn't bare the shin splint any more, and decided to pack it in. In the mean time I've not been doing any exercise at all ( as usual) , but made a bit of a change to my diet and have dropped just over a stone since my last run and the shin splint issue! I'm back to feeling like I'd rather rub barbed wire in my eyes than go out and run, but hopefully this will change once I'm back out running ( or trying to)! I've been in now about 20 minutes from my run, and I'm still breathing like I smoke 30 Cuban cigars a day! Oh the joys... πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒ

Welcome back! Fantastic job on that weight loss... if you can do that, you can do this. Well done getting back on it... and don’t worry, next run it may only feel like you smoke 29 Cubans a day 🀣. It will improve the more times you do it... just stay away from routes with barbed wire fences in case the voice in your head gives you that choice to make!

Enjoy the next one.

Haha thanks. There's a 15ft hole where there digging up just on the field I was running round. Every time I run past my brain is trying to throw me in to get out of running πŸ˜‚

Maybe it’ll fill with rainwater... could be very refreshing on a hot run day!

Ha ha, nice one. Well done for starting again. Hopefully no shin splints this time. Keep your runs as slow as poisonle and then go slower! C25k is about time not distance, Good luck and enjoy your running

Hi Steveeeee I did the same as you in 2015 did about 4 runs and gave up! I have since lost 2 stone and the difference is amazing I’m now on week 6 and loving it! My advice would be run slower than you feel you can and pop a smile on your face 😁. You can do it I am sure

Good luck - you may benefit from getting a gait analysis and proper fitting shoes. Also a good motivator to keep going πŸ‘ŒπŸ½

That's great and this place it's packed full of support. 1st run under your belt, keep going. I completed W2 R2 this morning, (early 6:45 to miss the rain), and just thinking about it I was glad that I've followed the simple advice, from Laura on the app and the wonderful people here. I have started on Mon, Wed and either Fri or if needed Sat 3rd run, just to make sure I'm pacing myself and taking time...so far so good... and I'm sure you'll be fine too.

Hi Steveeeee. Very impressive weight loss. Well done. I nearly gave up in my first week because of agonisingly painful shins but took advice to have gait analysis and got proper filleting shoes. Revolutionised my experience. I’ve had no pain since and now I’m on week 7. I felt a complete fraud going into the running shop but they were very helpful and not fazed by my complete ignorance. Good luck. Let us know how you get on.
