So I’ve just completed my first run. I don’t consider myself unhealthy, I don’t smoke and don’t drink much, average weight. I’ve not exercised at all since school days 25 of years ago so I’m definitely not fit. Running for 60secs does not sound like a lot but I deff found it tough. The first 60s my legs felt really heavy and achy with each stride. I think a lot of it is prob basically technique, learning to run. I did find it a bit easier by just after halfway but last 60 secs felt a killer. Running for 30 mins feels a long long way off. My chosen route has some elevation (the climb seemed to fall on the run section typically) May have to re-think that for some later runs. But there’s a nice view at the top.

Journey Started W1R1
Congratulations on getting started and welcome. Your route looks beautiful x
Well done.
Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration.........drink 2 to 3 litres of fluids per day, running or not, as described in the guide to the plan.
Yes you're right , 60 seconds doesn't seem a lot until you actually run it. Make sure you drink plenty water 7 days a week, should help with the legs. Well done you 😊
Question does drinking Tea count for the water 😂 I drink plenty of that when at home. I need to get into habit of drinking more water during the day at work tho. Which can be hard as I work in a lab so we obviously can’t drink in there, have to make an effort to get a drink.
Well done! that first run is the hardest and you have started your running journey
Well done on starting! Set your three run days and stick to them 👌🏽 oh and remember that when it gets tough you should slow down and slow down again 👍🏽
Congratulations on starting C25K with run 1 of week 1 and welcome to the forum, some say that is the hardest run of the whole program, onwards and upwards to run 2 of week 1, remember that you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to. 😊 🏃
Great job and welcome. As above with hydration... sip water all day every day alongside your cups of tea etc. Enjoy your journey.
W1R1 toughest of them all but stick at it...did my first 28 minutes flat on Friday but 8 weeks ago couldn’t have done one! Keep dipping in here to read other stories for inspiration because in just a few weeks you’ll be surprised how much you’ll progress 🏃♂️👍
Well done on getting started! It's an amazing programme, if you stick at it and trust in it you will find yourself really surprising yourself. I was just like you at week one and I graduate tomorrow! I look forward to following your progress. Keep checking in here, I couldn't have done it without all the incredible support from this community. Good luck!
