Since I returned to running after a layoff due to illness I have to say that I haven't really been enjoying it. I seem to have lost a lot of speed and cannot seem to find anything in my legs to pick up the pace while out running. Previous pace was around 5-5:15 per km, now its around 6:15-6:30.

Today, I decided to shake things up a bit. Normally I do the 3 runs per week (2 x 5k and 1 longer weekend run). I downloaded week 1 and planned to run 2k within the 8x60sec slots (I think thats an average of 15kph).

I didnt manage it (1.94km) but for the first time in quite some time, I really enjoyed my run.

I think I may substitute a 5k for this option once per week. I may even move to week 2 if I ever break that 2k :)

Happy running folks

Main objective achieved: Run enjoyed. And you now have a good excuse to enjoy more of them as you chip away at that 2km mark.

Very true Rob. I suppose we all have things that keep us going. We'll see if I stick at this. It was bloody hard but I did get a great sense of achievement.

Great idea. Any form of exercise is better when you have fun - this sounded like a great challenge.

Knackering but fun all the same. :)

Just keep going and enjoy your runs, don't worry about pace and distances all this will come back later. I went through exactly the same root and thought it was impossible but eventually managed to get back to it. Good luck

Thanks. I suppose another year on the clock doesnt help the pace :)

Will keep on trying though
