hi all. I'm looking for some motivation! I finished C25K a while ago and have been struggling since to get in to a regular routine. Both elderly parents are currently in and out of hospital and I have a niggling hip ache, but these are all excuses really! I'm still plucking up the courage to do a park run, and at the moment can't really run constantly for much more than 3k... How do I get my enjoyment back and my fitness back up???
Losing the will?: hi all. I'm looking for some... - Couch to 5K
Losing the will?
Why not retrace your steps on the C25K starting where you feel comfortable maybe the 20min Run and work back up. And please give Park Run a go. You won’t regret it and you will not be out of place I promise you.
Thanks - I did start doing that but then the app started not working half way through so I lost how far I'd gone. Maybe I will persevere though, thanks!
As they say 'take a deep breath' then think about why I started doing C25K and running, I graduated, perhaps you could rerun C25K or sign up for a parkrun, you could check up regarding the hip ache, sorry about your elderly parents but I am sure they will be proud if you if you can keep on running, you can also do some other exercises as well to bring back your enjoyment of running and fitness. 😊 🏃
Definitely do parkrun. You don’t need to run all 5k.
I’ve found the Japanese slow jogging technique to be an enjoyable and pleasurable style of running. When I first saw it in w6 it was a godsend and got me through as the durations increased. At the time I thought I’d address pace later. But I’ve stuck at as it’s enjoyable. I remember one runner here having used this to graduate then started working on pace, found he wasn’t enjoying the running so much and ended up running less, but then rediscovered the joys of slow running and came back to it. The great thing about it is that’s it’s low impact and designed to avoid injury, so really useful if your running becomes sporadic, as you can safely (once you’ve graduated) just go and run for as long as you want. Perhaps it’d work for you?

It’s more than just slow, the soft (tap, tap, tap) landing and short stride are key. I get all the health benefits to running, and enjoy it while doing it. It would be good to have something that is for you and your wellbeing during this difficult time. Hope this helps x
For me it's go through your music, find the stuff that gets your toes twitching and bum moving, make a hot playlist. Get it on your headphones and keep it on whilst you get ready... just like days gone by getting ready to go clubbing...
Just give yourself over to the movement, enjoy using your body how it was designed, sing along, get into the groove and before you know it you'll be grinning 😁👍🏻
You have a lot going on... maybe a short gentle run will test the hip and give you some valuable headspace. In general I like to set some goals out to keep me on track and set some goals to keep me interested.
Sign up for Park Run and get on down. As per extreamly well written post by DiscoRunner run walk/it!
