Couch to 2.5k

I recently joked that the last time I ran, it was probably to try to catch up with my school bus. That would have been around a quarter of a century ago!

Well, I've just done the second run of week five; so, according to my back-of-a-beer-mat calculations, that puts me half way. Like many, I'm nervous about W5R3, because it seems a hefty jump - but so far I have to say, the pacing of the programme has been spot on, for me.

Good luck to all who are currently doing it, and see you on the other side!

That's a fantastic resource - thanks so much. I wish I'd seen it when I started, but that's largely my fault for waiting until now to post!

Well done ooders, you are doing brilliantly! Don't worry about the next run, you're ready for it. ☺

Not much wrong with the maths... the halfway point was the bell in that last run!

The next run is all a mental challenge. You legs feel 8 minutes run, 5 minutes brisk walk, 8 minutes run as 21 minutes of hard work. Your heart and lungs have felt if as 21 minutes of cardio. Only the brain will see the next run as a step up... slow and steady, especially in the first half, and you’ll be just fine. Enjoy that run, then by another beer mat bit of maths, you’ll be two thirds of the way through this!

I won't lie - when that bell rang I grinned, and maybe even did an almost imperceptible jig.

That's a really good point, hadn't thought of it like that - I feel much better about the next run now, thanks!

I’m sure you’ll smash it. You’re ready. Everything you have done so far has prepared you for this. Happy running 🏃‍♀️

That’s brilliant.

Don’t over-think W5R3, just pop on your shoes and go out for a run just as you’ve been doing for the past 5 weeks. Take it slowly and you’ll be amazed when the voice in your ear tells you how long you’ve been running.

Believe me, you can do this. 😀👍
