Help!!

Hello everyone, I’d really appreciate some help with a rather awkward and very irritating problem!! All a bit embarrassing I’m afraid too. Having started C25K a few weeks ago I haven’t pushed on with the programme yet as I pulled a muscle gardening. In the last three weeks I’ve been trying to get a bit fitter in the gym and have been running on a treadmill there. But, and here’s the problem, after about 20 mins of speedy walking/running my gut goes into real overdrive and I HAVE to stop and head to the loo!! This makes me feel really worried that I’ll never be able to do a Parkrun for example, or any 5k in the great outdoors for fear of being caught out like poor Paula Radcliffe 😳😱🥵!! Sorry everyone, not a very choice subject, but am I alone with this?

Hi, you're definitely not alone with this! I find I need to walk around for a good 10-15 minutes before I head out to run or I'm the same. There have been mornings that I couldn't go before I went out, and I have always managed to get back in time even if I've had to cut the run short!

Are you drinking enough water in the days leading up to your runs? Being well hydrated makes a difference to getting the business done beforehand.

I run first thing after walking the dogs (normally around 6am). I normally poop first thing in the morning so I'm fairly empty when I start running lol (TMI?)

You are definitely not alone, there are lots of articles on this

Definitely not on your own. I think it's fairly common until your body gets used to it. I always try to go before starting if possible

As folk have already mentioned, it is not an uncommon problem! I have learned too, that a brisk walk and a loo stop before starting a run can help! It took me quite a while to realise I was not the only one!
