This evening I went out in the rain a'd completed run 2 of week 6. I can't believe how much I am enjoying running. I was hoping for some advice for lightweight waterproof running jackets I haven't got a clue where to start lol. Keep Running everyone.

I don’t use a waterproof jacket as I find I sweat inside them too much ( not a nice feeling). I do use a windproof one though. This is a bit like mine, I got mine four years ago and it is still going strong.

Hi Ellers2 (unfortunately the international aspect of forums means I can't recommend a shop but assuming you are based in the UK, I would suggest real foodies wind cheater is a brilliant idea, failing that I would like to suggest getting in touch with Parkrun who are a bunch of amateurs who appreciate things on a shoestring but have an effective result - I would avoid expensive outlets like Blacks or YHA who are addicted to labels as opposed to efficiency

I would suggest to look for one at decathlon.

Although, I don’t really like running with a jacket. I do wear a hat if it’s raining. Keeps the water off my glasses.

Hi Ellers2. When I started C25K it was January and I wore my cycling soft shell with zip off sleeves over a vest top. It kept the wind out and the worst of the winter rains off. Once it got a bit more Spring-like I ditched the jacket and if it's really chucking it down I wear a cap as I find I get much too hot in sleeves. If it's just rain I just run in it, it's surprising how much I enjoy those runs!

What I'm getting at in a very rambly way is - A soft shell would probably do all you need. 😆

I generally wear a baseball cap to keep the rain out of my eyes and get wet...always need a shower when I get back anyway! But if it's rainy in the cold windy weather then I just put on a lightweight rainproof jacket of my sons 😳 with the baseball cap and the hood up to keep it on...maybe coz at that point I don't care what I look like 😆, and don't want to feel too sweaty so an oversized jacket suits me fine 👍
