Week 1 run 2! Can’t breath!

I found this run harder than the first one and I can’t think why. Maybe I’m still recovering from the first or it’s the humidity or something, but I also struggled with my breathing. I have asthma anyway so knew this would likely cause a few issues along the way, but I literally felt like I had a lump at the back of my throat the further I got into the run and started to feel like I couldn’t inhale enough air. Now I’ve stopped I’m fine again! I wondered if any one had any help or had anything similar themselves. I have an asthma check up today anyway so will also ask the nurses advice. Still really enjoying the run but hoping the breathing gets easier!

Try the turbohaler! I found it better than others - take a couple of puffs before running. Ask about it today. Also breathing does sort itself out once you get through the 5-8 minute runs 👍🏽

Amazing thank you! I’d never heard of a turbohaler! I’ll definitely ask about it! Im managing to complete the runs just worried when the further I get into it the less I feel I’m breathing!

I’m on week 5 and also have asthma, my top tip.....slow down and then slow down again, you can do it

Thank you! I did slow down towards the end. I’ll start my next run at a slower pace :)

Especially in this humid heat, Slow is good. Even those of us without asthma can find breathing difficult in these conditions. Think tortoise, not hare! 🐢
