Speed Run 1

After doing an interval run on Saturday today I choose to do a speed run, shorter and faster than the long slow runs.

Felt a little sick and heavy, Mrs LeeU and I had had a day out yesterday and eat Chinese food, maybe a little too much but it was a treat, but run day is run day and I haven't got many left before my summer holidays of Sun, Sea, Sand, Scuba, Snorkelling and maybe a couple of runs a week in the hotel Gym.

So I had some structure to the run I used the W5R3 podcast, I like Laura telling me what to do, not sure what I'm going to do on the long runs as I start increasing time.

Anyway, back to today, I did start off a little too fast, the aim was still to complete the 20 minutes and not burn myself out before then, I had to drop back to a light jog for a minute before speeding back up (not quite as fast but a quicker pace than I have been going. My breathing remained under control and my heart rate never

As Laura gave me the 2 minute warning I upped the speed back to where I'd started and finished the run with a spirt.

In the 20 minutes I managed to cover the same distance as I do on my 30 slow runs so I'm happy at that for today, a nice mixture of faster and clear head.

Wednesday is slow run day, a nice long slow, mind clearing run.

If you would have said 10 weeks ago I would be chasing down my target 5k pace already I would have said you were mad, yes I've completed C25K before, yes I can run 5k (in around 45 minutes when I ran it previously) but it's all down to this program.

Happy running everyone.
