Why does my body do this?!?

So disappointed... did w4r1 and was really pleased with myself - but then got a bit of a cold which developed into something needing antibiotics and steroids. Haven't run for over a week and am now worried that when i do feel well enough i will have to start again. What should i do when the time comes? Try week 4 or go back further? Currently i feel as weak as a kitten! 😐

Ah, bodies can be a pain sometimes! I should think that you'll be OK to pick up where you left off.

Thanks Debston. I'm just feeling sorry for myself! I'll just get back at it asap...

Natural to feel grumpy / sorry for yourself when your body is not cooperating and there's nothing you can do except wait it out. I'm the world's worst patient (currently nursing sore hips and running out of patience!) 😂

Sorry about your cold Vic68, however, if you are not off running for too long you can resume where you left off, but if you are off for more than 3 weeks then it's better to restart at week 3, that is a popular week for people who have even graduated but not ran for some time to resume their running.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks!

This is just part of the running journey. I have had to take several breaks due to colds etc over the past 2 years. last year I had to start all over again following a 6 month break due to a back injury. But I bounced back each time stronger and faster than before. You will too.

First of all get better . Then when you feel fully fit go out and try wk4 of it too much after being unwell try wk3 . Don't worry you can do this 😊

Thank you! In my head I'm raring to go but currently my body says no! Need to be patient!

Not running sucks! Hopefully you’ll be back soon, it takes 2 weeks before we start to lose fitness, so that should be all good, energy levels may be down as your body finishes off the virus once the symptoms have gone... so don’t expect too much first time out.

Oh I feel for you - so frustrating when you’ve started to get into the swing of it and have to pause 😖 Maybe this is a good opportunity to rest those muscles, concentrate on good nutrition so you’ll be ready to get straight back in to it once you’re better. Hope you feel right again soon!
