Why we do this running malarky

Neilrunrun and SpanishShuffle have just posted about what got them into C25K and what keeps them going and I thought I’d add my thoughts as well. I have friends who enjoy running and recommended C25K as a route which I could take so I sneakily started in Feb this year while they were away on holiday. It took me a while to complete, I didn’t graduate until August and couldn’t run anywhere near 5K in 30 minutes. I still can’t - but I can run a very slow 5k which I could never imagine doing this time last year. And today my friend and I ran 5k in aid of the RNLI - again, something I never really thought I would do. It was slow, 50 minutes, but I ran all the way. And it was my first ever bit of running bling! So if you’re new to this and wondering what you’ve let yourself in for or whether it’s really for you, trust me - you can do it and you’ll be so pleased you did! Trust the plan - and happy running folks!

Thank you Buddy - yes I’m rather pleased with them, as I am with my Parkrun 25 volunteer T-shirt. I’m easily pleased!

Tough conditions today. Well done on completing your first event despite the sleety rain and wind.

It gave us a reason to go out, we might have skulked at home otherwise. Post-parkrun yesterday morphed into too much watching of rugby and not a lot else.

Yep, if us over 60s can do it, you all can. C25k is a fantastic programme to get you running. I think we’ll wear those T-shirts at parkrun on Saturday.
