Week 7 completed, but where’s the high after the run?

Completed week 7 this evening. It wasn’t easy, found the runs a bit of a slog listening to the awful music, but I did it and recovered pretty quickly so my fitness must be improving.

I’m a bit disappointed that I haven’t had that big high that I got after completed weeks 5 and 6.

I don’t think it’s helped that my routines gone to pot the last two weeks due to having a cold, then my husband working away so having no childcare to do my set days.

Has anyone got any wise words to help keep me motivated? One thing I am telling myself is that once I graduate I will run for 30 minutes with my own music, as a reward. I’ also hoping to be doing parkruns in the Autumn.

I hate to say it but I guess I’ve found this week a little boring for the first time.

It sounds like you’re not having the easiest week. Even the achievement you are making may not be enough to make you feel different.

Don’t worry, you have accomplished a huge amount and it’s ok to celebrate that. In W8 you can focus on graduating just next week! Maybe running with others would be fun, too. Good luck moving forwards!

Pinkhoodie the only motivation you need comes from you. It's hard sometimes to get those boots on and pound the pavements.

You have got this far..you can do it...buckle up and hit those park runs soon!

Life gets in the way but just re-adjust and work round it 😎😎

At this point in your running you need discipline. Not always easy when life is busy, I know.

Now that you are doing continuous runs, you can set a timer and use your own music if this helps. I like listening to audiobooks too.

By walking some of the way you could continue your program as part of a parkrun. If you’ve got companionable people there, that should keep you motivated.

Not quite sure what you're listening to but I had my own music all the way through c25k. Also why not try a new place to run . Mix it up and keep it interesting. Good luck 😊

Hi, I'm on run 2 of week 7 and I also listen to my own music. The coaches just talk over your music so you don't actually miss anything. I couldn't complete a 25 minute run without it. Good luck and crack on :-)

Hi Pinkhoodie, you’ll get your mojo back I’m sure! I finished a few weeks ago but have repeated week 9 several times using all the different trainers! Originally Laura but now a Sanjeev fan!

Music was tricky for me too, I used my own but even got fed up of that.i agree with helenwheels, I found audiobooks a game changer (got idea from this forum). I get so engrossed in book that time flies and I don’t want the 30 minutes to finish!

The final few weeks are much more dull than the earlier ones, there's less input from the c25k mentor, they're weaning you off the support.

I used my own music all the way through, and definitely in the last weeks I needed it.

Maybe try a new route or mix things up a bit. It is harder now though, but you should find that sense of achievement again although for me it took a while past w9r3. 👍🏻😁

You can make your own playlist to run with the programme. If you're enjoying the tunes, it goes so much faster. Caught myself singing along this morning - luckily no one nearby to hear me!

If you're like me, it's no surprise, you've come so far but it's getting longer, and there are still two weeks to get through. On top of that, I always feel a bit down after a cold. Don't panic, you'll find the joy again when you're properly recovered and life is back to "normal".

Well, good for you for keeping going, despite that unsettled time. I found the week 7 runs a slog too, and really didn't enjoy them. I think it's because we know it is just going to be long runs for the rest of the programme. Still, week 7 is over, and you will be sorting out week 8 in no time. Good luck!

If you download the C25K app you can play your own music, and your coach will talk over it when necessary. I can’t imagine having gotten to W7R3 without my own music!
