Almost 12 Months since I started C25K

It's been almost 12 Months since I started running with the C25K program. I love running now and can't imagine not running. There was a few times that I had to leave two days between runs to recover, so don't worry if you have to do that too. I think week 5 run 3 is the big step up for most people, the thought of running for 20 minutes is a shock to say the least but by the time you do it you will be amazed at your progress, honest! after that you will love the final weeks. After I finished I decided to try and do 3 30 mins runs a week which I did for about 3 weeks but I started getting a little to confident and pushed my pace up a little to much, I started suffering with shin splints and at that time had bought a pair of running shoes from Amazon for about £24 which in hind sight wasn't the best purchase. It is so so important to buy a good pair of running shoes from a shop where you can go and have your feet properly measured and assessed, a few photo's and they can tell what your feet are actually doing when your running. They can then recommend shoes that will help you run easier and safer to prevent injuries. It took me almost 4 Months to get rid of my shin splints. A good thing is to watch YouTube videos of good running form it as helped me a lot. Now when I run I feel like I am running at an easy pace but in fact my pace increases if I get my form correct, it's amazing.

I hope I have helped in some small way to any new runner, and yes I can now call myself a "runner". Steve age 53.

Great write up and some really good tips In there. I always find it interesting how running just quietly comes into our lives and then makes it very clear it is not leaving 😀. Happy running. Rfc x
