I am dreading the week 9, not because I don't think I cannot run, but the heat. I did the w7r1 yesterday... And that was hard with the heat and that was 22 degrees!!! I do in the evenings when it is cooler. But the week 9 I will graduate in Spain when the temperature is late 30s degrees in the shade.... And 40s in the sun.... So what advice do you have for these conditions? Besides doing early or in the night... I am just worried that I will stop running as the heat can be unbearable and therefore losing my fitness? I will be there 3 weeks. Thank you!!
Do what you can! If you’re by the sea with a promenade, you’ll find all the locals out running there at sunset of dawn. My other suggestion (and my cure all for everything, probably even a dripping tap!), but learn how to do this Japanese slow jogging technique right (I run this way all the time) but have found it invaluable in this heat. I love running for longer durations, but not in heat like this so I’m fitting in lots of 30s but extra slow.
You get all the benefits of running, and even if your love of running is about speed this is a very good technique for building strength and stamina. Hope it helps.
If you can ask some locals - there may even be an air conned mall you can run in! As you say, do what you can, and most importantly - enjoy the holiday!
