Last night, at 21.21 precisely, I completed W9R3 and therefore the whole darn thang!
I had told everyone that the record breaking heat had something to do with me deciding to start C25K, and sure enough now that I have finished it is 10 degrees cooler and raining!
For the last two weeks I have resorted to resurrecting my long forgotten gym membership (what have I been paying this for) and running indoors. Air conditioned luxury, well yes, but still sooooo hot!
I could sprint (100 metres) or was it yards in my school days? Could never ‘run’ though. The first week, running for 1 whole minute seemed like an eternity. I couldn’t believe that they had set us all up to fail, surely 30 seconds was the place to start this off!
Doubting myself every week as the challenge changed, the first 20 minute run was a huge obstacle in my head, but I did it!
So, even though the weather has changed, my running will continue. I am away next week, and already looking at ‘how to run in sand’ and will leave space for my trainers in the suitcase.
Thanks to my family, who I am sure thought that I was out of my mind for starting, and to the lovely running shop in Canterbury who spent hours finding the best trail shoes for an overweight, flat footed, novice runner, with dodgy knees. And to every poster here for making me realise that every difficulty had been experienced by many before me, and that I could do it!
