Only 2 runs to go

Set off this morning for Week 9 Run 1 and feeling great, 30 mins running felt like a lifetime away even after week 5/6, but this programme really does work.

I’ve been really self critical of myself at times, letting little things get in the way of how much progress I’ve actually made. Friday was one of those days too, didn’t feel great during the run but I blame the heat.

Anyway put that behind me and went out this morning, much cooler and all round better run.

I clocked up 4.7km, so not far off the 5km, but I’ll take 30 mins of running all day long.

It’s been about 12 weeks since I started out, having repeated a few runs, and then repeated week 6 after having a week off, but graduation is in sight. Thanks to this forum for the advice and encouragement.

Cheers

Scott

Brilliant! The end is in sight (or the beginning of your new running life!). You must be quite pacy too. I graduated a few months ago and 5k still takes me about 44 minutes. That's fine by me. I'm just intending to keep doing it!

Mid way through the programme I was expecting 5km to take me around 34/35 mins, so I was pleasantly surprised today. I switched my route up this morning which resulted in a downhill finish so I guess that helped 😀

Well done, isn't it amazing when the right plan is in place what you can achieve 😊😊

Thanks, it definitely does. This is my 3rd attempt at taking up running, but 1st time I’ve followed a plan. It’s made a massive difference, more dedicated to stick to it and not been troubled by shin splints like in the past.

Well done ScottJB! I'm hoping to be in your position soon. Only on week 2 but its 2 weeks further on than I was 2 weeks ago lol. Good luck for your soon-to-be graduation 😊👍
