Disappointed

I've just completed week8 run1 (28 minutes running) and I used mapmyrun for the first time. Horrified to see that I've only run 2.72k! I must be a lot slower than I thought 🤨😡

Dont be disheartened, everyone's pace is different, I dont think I'll get to a steady run before the 9 weeks, but I've joined a parkrun and set a PB this week and just aim to try and beat that each week whilst also doing the C25k, Good Luck keep going your doing great xx

Thankyou, I suppose my age may come into it...I'm 60. Maybe they should rename the site Couch to 30 mins? Lol!

Do not stress over this. The course is time-based. Work on the minutes and distance will take care of itself. And the result – feeling better all round – will be well worth it.

I think it shows that you paced yourself and that is very important. Well done for getting this far!

You are out running for 28 minutes non stop that's amazing, it's 28 minutes more than you were doing 9 weeks ago . Don't worry about distance. Good luck 😊

Aside from calories out, the benefits of running count whether your running 2k or 8k. Your own personal cardiovascular fitness is improving, your bones are getting stronger and you’re doing more than you could do 8 weeks ago I’m sure! I’ve just completed that run too, and I almost repeated W7 because I didn’t think I had anything left to give for an extra 3 minutes but I did it. High five!

Don't sweat the distance, it will come. I am running 5K now (4 weeks after graduation) in around 45 minutes. I'm sure I'll get slightly faster over time but I probably won't set any landspeed records and I'm ok with that.

As the others said, you are reaping the benefits no matter how fast you run

As everyone else has said, don't worry at all about distance for now. I was running at a slow pace all through the programme. I have now run 5k a few times, my first one at a Parkrun took me 47 minutes, my second one (my first and only race) took me just under 39 minutes. One day I hope to do it in 30 minutes, but for now I am just thrilled that I can run - I certainly couldn't have believed back in March that I would be running regularly and even enjoying it! Please don't be disheartened, be proud of yourself. ☺

It sounds like you are doing an amazing job. Half hours aerobic exercise is great and I am sure your time will improve.

Most say on this forum, focus on the time you are running. Speed and distance can come later. Keep doing what you're doing and just enjoy your journey.
