I did W5R3 on the treadmill this morning and could only manage 12 minutes before I let my mind tell me I couldn't continue. I had a 90 second walk break then ran for another minute before my mind got the best of me and I walked the rest of the time, I plan to try again tomorrow, did anyone else find this helped, did anyone else struggle like this? I'm not ready for outside yet as I find that much harder, the treadmill is on a 1% incline and I've used it all the way through..

W5R3 Disappointed
Hi Michael, don’t be disappointed, you’ve picked up that this is a mental battle which means you know physically you can do it! I think you should still take a rest day. Maybe do some stretches and strengthening work. Good luck !
These runs, galling though they are, are the ones we really learn from. Can you think of anything that was different this time ? Think of when and what you ate, hydration, sleep, room temperature, who else was around and what they were doing, what was on your mind etc etc. Anything you can identify as a problem is something you can avoid in the future.
Next time, you’ll already feel a little anxious at the start, so don’t go to it thinking “I must do this !” Just aim to run beyond the time you did today. If you don’t nail the full run, make a note of where you get to and aim to beat that the following time. Your body is adapting to the new challenges you’re giving it, so be patient with it and kind to yourself. Always remember the First Rule of C25k: The only run you fail is the run you don’t go for x
You did 12 minutes count that as a practice and try again and yes a lot if people here gave had to repeat runs so try again you've got this 😊
Well done you gave it a go.
Don't do it again tomorrow. Have a rest day and come back fully rested and hydrated and with a positive attitude and just run slower. It is just another run.
This might help healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
You can do this.
Thanks everyone, I'll have a days rest and try again on Thursday Thanks!
That run is a mental challenge... so no surprises when the voices in our heads get stronger. 12 minutes of solid running is your longest so far though, so don’t be disappointed, be proud of the progress. Maybe drop the pace a tiny bit... you’ll be amazed how different it feels with a 0.5kph difference.
Take a rest day and go again... you can do it.
Maybe try listening to music whilst running. I found it changed the focus for me from ‘surely I’ve nearly finished’ to being pleasantly relieved to hear from the trainer at key points in the run. I found this run a real challenge and am sure I’d have stopped early had I not had something other than time on which to concentrate. Best of luck!
