A slight delay in saying hello as I thought at 73 and with no jogging experience I should check with GP if couch to 5k was ok. The answer was fine just watch your breathing (no gasping) and good luck. I already do a weekly walk of around 8 miles and for the last months a brisk walk of 6.5k in just under the hour 4 times a week. Will that help me complete the 9 weeks?
So Sunday was the start, went ok but breathing was too harsh. Tues went better possibly down to slowing the running pace down a bit. Thurs is the next planned run. As I'm used to walking I'm finishing the 20 min session off with a 40 min walk at a slower pace than normally would, which I take is ok?
Good luck to those on the course and beyond.

Welcome Skeg, and well done! You've already discovered the golden rule of C25K - slow is good, and slower is even better!
Keep us posted on your journey 😊
Well done- great decision. Just have a look at Bettyb719 's recent post and believe in yourself and in the programme. Sounds like you are quite fit and healthy already so this should be fine. Have a look at the guide to the programme (under FAQs) and come here often for lots of support and encouragement
Hello Skeg, welcome to C25K and the forum! Read Iannoda Truffe’s pinned post and follow the plan to the letter. Stay hydrated, take your rest days and slow, slow is the mantra! It’s couch to 5k but it’s really Couch to Running for 30 minutes- which doesn’t have the same ring to it does it? And if you can’t finish it in 9 weeks, don’t worry - There’s no-one watching you and lots
of us take much longer than that! Good luck and happy running!
Thats it then W1 done with no major issues. I'm not looking to achive a distance target yet but for my records the 1st 2 runs finished at the same spot whilst the third had 10 secs of running past that even though my pace seemed more comfortable.
1st mistake was running too fast which I'm correcting.
2nd mistake was looking at later runs. However my poor memory will soon forget them -
Fantastic! The walking will definitely help, I did about 3 months of walking prior to starting and have had very few issues with my legs. Just take each run as it comes, don't look ahead if it's likely to discourage you, go slow and steady and most of all enjoy your runs!
