W4R2 Well I did it.

I was dreading this run, after struggling with the last run and having trouble with Laura bailing on me halfway through. But up I got this morning before 6 and out I went :)

I think it went ok, my daughter came with me and kept to my pace until the last 5 min run and then I think she speeded up a bit, because my breathing went haywire. It was nice to have company but I'll have to watch her speed. To be fair, she was puffing and panting as well, lol.

I won't say I enjoyed it but I finished it :D

Thanks. I have only had to repeat a single run so far. Something I am amazed at by the way.

I am continuously struck by how well designed these runs are. Even down to the lyrics of the chosen songs and the careful timing of the 'almost there' reminders.

Well done on finishing it! I did Wk4run2 this am - at least, I tried! I'd almost managed it on monday, as run 1, even though it was hot in the afternoon. this morning i thought I'd get out early, so left at 7.15. Very tired at that time of day, although I'd had water and coffee and a banana I just couldn't perform as well as Monday. Strava seems to think otherwise, so I shouldn't be hard on myself - I was out there, after all!

I kept walking when I couldn't run any more, or even jog any more, and ran a bit more when I felt up to it.

Think it may be cooler on Friday - so I'll have another go early afternoon, i think, and see how preparations for Le Tour coming through on Saturday are going! And I'll keep on doing it until.....I CAN do it!

A huge well done! I think only those of us who are attempting this programme, know how hard it is! Your attitude is spot on and I admire you so much. You got out there and did it! And don't forget, your running muscles are stronger as a result of your hard work. They don't care that you walked when you wanted to jog, that you jogged when you wanted to run, they just know that they have worked!

Good idea to switch it up and try an early afternoon run on friday, I'll be waiting to hear how it went!

I too finished W4R2 this morning. Some days I think I would be faster walking but the triumph of running for longer than I walked is my new motivation...

jd5761, woohooooo! Well done! It's hard going though, I know that! And I'm determined to run slower when I attempt W4R3 tomorrow or the day after.

WELL DONE!

I know I can walk faster than I run but running uses WAY more energy and effort and builds muscle and stamina. I figure first get used to moving, build the stamina, then work on technique and only then worry about speed or distance. Mind you with good stamina and decent technique speed and distance may well have taken care of themselves along the way. Like my 'ole Kung Fu teacher way back in the day said: "Do it, then do it smooth, then do it fast. Each stage teaches the next."

Yep. We have to get those running muscles developed! And everywhere I look, I am hearing 'if you're out of breath you're running too fast'. So speed doesn't bother me one bit. Get some stamina built up and my poor legs used to moving :)

Finished W4R3 last night. I realized I was off schedule by a run so it is W5R1 this coming Thursday.

W4R3 was tough and I didn't think I would finish but I am learning to trust the schedule. It is strange to think that a recording has better knowledge of what you can do than you do.

Struggling is the correct word. I figure my legs will be speaking to me again just in time for the next run. Oh well that is what tea and Ibuprofen are for. :7)
