Is it possible to do this when you are 5 stones overweight and aged 60? Not very active, but desperate to get fit....

Definitely possible. If you are worried about any underlying issues you might have, you could run it past your GP first but there are people on here who are older than you and who have more weight to lose. If you can walk for 30 minutes OK, I think you will be fine. If walking non stop for 30 minutes would be a struggle, then build up your walking stamina first. I decided to get back to using my fitbit and aiming for 10,000 steps a day back in January and I am sure that made it a bit easier when I started the C25K in March. I had lost a couple of stones too, doing the Dr Mosley 8 week blood sugar diet. I still have about 3 stones still to lose to get to a weight I'll be happy with. People always say you should run for fitness and diet for weight loss. Good luck with it all, let us know how it goes. ☺

Thank you! Luckily I have been doing 10,000 steps on 5-7 days a week so feel I am ready. I did day one today and was surprised to find that I could still jog! I completed it and felt really emotional at first.. but now feeling great!

Brilliant, well done you! It's fantastic when you realise that you can do more than you thought you could. Onwards and upwards!

Absolutely!!!

Welcome to the forum.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and mentions an 83 year old graduate.

This plan works and can change your life.

Please don't write yourself off at the mere age of sixty.

Enjoy your journey.

Hi , I am 65 years old and now on week 8! Admit I'm not overweight but the plan is brilliant so keep persevering you can do it! I won't win any races but can now jog for 28 minutes without stopping. I've shocked myself. Good luck.

Well done! I’m not entering any races either.. fitness and a healthy BMI will be reward enough! Great to hear that others are getting through it x

You can do it at any age and no matter your weight. Really there is a variety of people on here and all diffferent ages and sizes.

Read the FAQ articles, they are very good to get prepared and I frequently revisited them during my journey so I could keep on track

I started just before I was 66 so of course you can do it! Take it really slowly, then slow right down. Stay well hydrated and take your rest days- you might also find you want an extra day between runs and that’s OK. Most of all, enjoy yourself!
